    Woodshop Volunteer Assistance

    January 22, 2026  10:00 am - 12:00 pm
    LV Woodshop

Woodshop Volunteers are available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00

Noon to repair any wood items. The only charge for this service would be for special materials, if needed. We do gratefully accept donations, to help defray cost of normal materials and supplies. If you have a desire and can demonstrate safety skills with basic equipment, a sander, scroll saw, band saw, drill press or chop saw, stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday morning to set up an appointment. The Woodshop Annex is ready to use. We have basic power tools to allow you to create a birdhouse for Billie, a dollhouse for Elizabeth or a cutting board for your significant other. You will find almost everything you need to start your project. We have a new sanding table with dust collector, new workbench for the drill press, chop saw and other small equipment. If you need to utilize a piece of equipment that you are not qualified to use, don’t hesitate to ask another keyholder for assistance. Many of our committee members and keyholders have a wide range of skills and are willing to share their knowledge. If you have prior experience with power tools and can demonstrate those skills, you can gain access and utilize the more complex tools in the main Woodshop.

The Woodshop is planning another Yard Sale this spring. We are accepting any saleable items, with an emphasis on tools and equipment.

“Invitation to Everyday Mindfulness.” Join us on Thursdays from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM in the Garden Room. Mindful awareness is paying attention to present moment experiences with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to be with what is. It is an excellent antidote to the stresses of modern life. Group activities include weekly guided mediation led by a UCLA certified mindfulness facilitator, talks on mindfulness-related topics such as compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness, and interactive discussions about books selected for study. Open to Leisure Village residents and guests.
